Kamal Haasan, who is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited film Indian 2 aka Hindustani 2, in an exclusive interview on Pinkvilla Masterclass, reveals what prompted him to sign the film.

Responding to the question on signing for the second part of the film after such a long time, he said, “My biggest motivation to sign for Hindustani 2 was actually Hindustani 3 (laughs). I couldn’t go into Hindustani 3 without doing Hindustani 2 so I said yes to both.”

“And yes, although I say money is secondary, it is also important,” he joked.

The Vishwaroopam actor also revealed that he doesn’t like films with long cuts in theatres. Apart from this, Kamal Haasan revealed how he and S Shankar have evolved since their last collaboration in Hindustani (Indian).

On Kamal Haasan’s work front

Last seen in Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD, Kamal Haasan played a dangerous god known as Supreme Yaskin, who is the totalitarian leader of the world. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film was an epic sci-fi thriller set in the dystopian land of Kashi which had become the last city by the year 2898 AD.

Kalki, the 10th and final incarnation of Lord Vishnu, has brought a ray of hope for the common people of the world who are facing difficulties and troubles. The veteran actor has many projects in the pipeline. He will next be seen reprising his role as Senapathi in Indian 2 (Hindustani 2).

The first film, released in 1996, featured Kamal Haasan in a dual role as father and son. The father was seen as a seasoned revolutionary who used vigilantism to fight corruption in his country.

Apart from him, the film stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, SJ Suryah, Bobby Simha, Priya Bhavani Shankar, Kajal Aggarwal and other actors in important roles.

The film is directed by S Shankar and bankrolled by Lyca Productions. The political thriller is scheduled to release worldwide on July 12, 2024, with the actor returning as the feared vigilante once again. Apart from this, Haasan will also be working with Mani Ratnam after 3 decades for Thug Life.
