After a long gap of 16 years, the iconic actor-director duo of Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are finally reuniting once again for the film Bhoot Bangla. They are set to return to the silver screen with a much-awaited horror-comedy project that promises to revive their signature cinematic magic.

The collaboration was initiated by powerhouse producer Ekta Kapoor, who personally handed over the script to the pair. Veteran director Priyadarshan immediately saw the potential of the story and agreed to come on board after adding some creative changes to the story.
Interestingly, it was Akshay Kumar who took the final decision on the title of the film and chose to change the original title to the catchy Bhoot Bangla.
Promising an excellent blend of laugh-out-loud comedy, chilling horror and thrilling adventure, the film is deliberately designed to remind fans of his 2007 cult classic, Bhool Bhulaiyaa. A recently released teaser reflects this energetic vibe perfectly, showing Akshay Kumar having an absolute blast navigating the scary, chaotic antics of a haunted house.
Ekta Kapoor’s Perspective: A "Wild Gujarati Thali"
Ekta Kapoor has a specific demographic in mind for this venture: families and children. Taking personal inspiration from her own child, she wants the film to be an entertaining, shared experience for audiences of all ages. In an informal conversation, he enthusiastically described Bhoot Bangla as a “wild Gujarati thali” – a rich, vibrant and diverse mix of comedy, horror and drama, proudly presenting the “OG” masters of the genre.
With an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Mithila Palkar and Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhoot Bangla is shaping up to be an exciting journey. Pritam’s music is set to enhance the energy of the film.
The first single from the film, titled Ram Ji Aake Bhala Karenge, has already been announced. Bhoot Bangla is officially scheduled to release in theaters on April 10, 2026.
