Exclusive: Aftab Shivdasani says Kasoor 2 is his most challenging role till date
Aftab Shivdasani talked about his upcoming film ‘Kasoor 2’ in an exclusive interview. The actor revealed that this is his challenging role so far.

It’s a horror film, specifically, a psychological horror film. It has nothing to do with the first Kasoor. It’s completely unrelated. It’s a very exciting project and probably my most challenging role till date. That’s all I can tell you.”
Aftab, who has completed 26 years in the industry, still feels like a newcomer. “I really feel like I’m just starting out,” he said.
Shivdasani, who is known for experimenting with his career choices, shared how this has been the center of his journey. “Of course, people say I experimented a lot with characters and roles right from the beginning – and that’s true. From Mast to Kasoor, I constantly jumped across genres. That was the actor in me. If you look at my trajectory, it started with Mast – the boy-next-door, cute, chocolate-boy image. Go to Kasoor, where I played a ruthless killer. I won awards and accolades, and the film did well. I did it because people did not expect to see me in a film like Kasoor.”
Reflecting on the defining phase of his career, Shivdasani recalls how he stepped into comedy will do anything for love It was a turning point, challenging the norms of the early 2000s and leaving a lasting impression on audiences.

People will ask, ‘There is no heroine opposite you(Is there no heroine opposite you,’ and I would joke, ‘So what? I am enough for myself (So what? I am enough for myself). But the character’s work remained with the people. He remembers the Aslam Bhai track, the song and the camaraderie I shared with Johnny Lever. Fardeen and I got along very well and the audience liked it very much.
He further said, “Come again crazy crazy, funAnd RuckusAnd suddenly I was firmly established in the comedy field. People started believing that I could do comedy and they forgot that I did comedy Easy Going, faultOr even intense romantic roles.
For Aftab, these changes were not failures but learning curves. “These were small victories that I celebrated as an actor. But at some point, I realized that at the end of the day, box office matters. So you take decisions as per your choice, do commercial films, while also trying to mix them with creative satisfaction.”
Looking back at his filmography, the actor admitted how he values the freedom that comes with refusing to be typecast. He said, “Fortunately, I have never been pigeonholed into one genre and I am very happy with that. I am not one type of actor and this gives filmmakers the option to cast me in a variety of roles.”
Ironically, the genre that brought him widespread recognition was never his personal favourite. He said, “People often ask me what my favorite genre is and I usually say anything other than comedy. Comedy is not my favorite genre, even though it has become my most recognizable genre.”
