Who is Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga?

Born in New Delhi in 1985, Bagga has become a prominent figure in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the Delhi BJP, where he has consistently taken strong stances on national issues.

Bagga first gained attention as a political activist, known for his direct action campaigns. He co-founded an organization called Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena, which aims to combat what its members view as ‘anti-national forces’. The group became notorious for taking aggressive actions, such as physically assaulting individuals after accusing them of making ‘anti-India’ comments.

In 2011, Bagga’s name came into national headlines when he claimed responsibility for an attack on lawyer and activist Prashant Bhushan, who had expressed support for a referendum on Kashmir.

role in BJP

Bagga’s wide reach on social media helped him attract the attention of the BJP. In 2015, he was one of the #Super150 – a group of social media influencers hosted by PM Modi at his official residence on the occasion of the Digital India launch.

In 2017, Bagga officially joined the BJP and quickly rose in the party’s youth wing. His social media presence, where he regularly posts content critical of opposition leaders and policies, has made him popular among BJP supporters. His posts often go viral, increasing his influence within the party and among its followers.

Bagga contested the 2020 Delhi Assembly election from Hari Nagar constituency but lost. Despite the defeat, he remained an active participant in the BJP’s outreach and advocacy campaigns, and frequently spoke on matters of national security, Hindu nationalism, and the BJP’s political agenda.

Legal troubles and controversies

Throughout his political career, Bagga has been involved in several legal battles and controversies.
In 2022, he was briefly arrested by the Punjab Police on charges related to incitement and inflammatory social media posts. The arrest came on the complaint of the AAP leader, who alleged that Bagga made inflammatory statements, spread rumours, tried to create religious and communal enmity and during a protest he allegedly threatened Arvind Kejriwal.

His arrest sparked a political storm with the BJP accusing the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of political vendetta. Later he was released.

business venture

Bagga is also a businessman and runs an online store called “T-Shirt Bhaiya”, which sells illustrated T-shirts, kurtas, jackets, home decor items and jewellery. They have announced their next venture: “Kulhad Biryani: India’s first jerk biryani brand” in response to the halal meat preferred by most Muslims.
