Vikrant Massey, who made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with Ranveer Singh and Sonakshi Sinha’s film Lootera, has become a well-known name in Bollywood. His 2023 release 12th Fail proved to be a breakthrough film in his career and received positive response from critics and audiences. Vikrant recently acknowledged the success of 12th Fail, however, the actor does not consider himself a “box-office star”.
In a recent interview with Mashable India, Vikrant Massey said that he now feels that this was a special phase in his career. Vikrant expressed his gratitude to the audience for giving so much love and respect to 12th Fail.
“When I started preparing for the film, there was a legitimate doubt that the film was coming to the cinema. There are a lot of real people, not actors. I still have a long way to go for that,” he said.
The Blackout actor revealed that despite the huge success of 12th Fail, he will still feel he is not a “box office star” unless he gives 5-7 films in a row in the future.
Calling it “minimal”, Vikrant said he hopes it will be after 5 years when he will sit back comfortably and have a number of films under his belt. The 12th Fail actor said bankability doesn’t come from a single film but from being consistent on the big screen.
Giving the example of cricket, Vikrant said that you cannot play one innings and say that you have achieved everything. He said, “You cannot play one innings and say that it’s done.”
Directed, written and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, 12th Fail is based on the 2019 book of the same name written by author Anurag Pathak. It follows the life of IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma, who overcame extreme poverty to achieve this feat. The film was released on October 27 last year and is available to stream on Disney+Hotstar.
Talking about the work front, Vikrant Massey has worked in films like Dil Dhadakne Do, A Death in the Gunj, Chhapak, Haseen Dilruba. Now he will be seen in the sequel of the 2018 film, Phir Ii Haseen Dilruba.
