Ukrainian President Volodimier Zelanski on Saturday called for the construction of a European army, as he said that Kiev and its supporters should be heard in peace talks with Russia on the continent.
Speaking at a gathering of top policy makers in Munich, the Ukrainian leader said that Washington in Europe can no longer always be trusted in Europe with President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.
Trump shocked colleagues and extended the status quo of US support for Ukraine this week when he announced that he would soon meet Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who would start a trussal talks.
Zelansky’s rally rose a day later when he met US vice -president JD Wanes, as it has not been sidelined to ensure that Washington’s three -year war was not sidelined.
“Let’s be honest – now we cannot dismiss the possibility that America cannot say Europe on issues that threaten it,” Zelancesi said.
“I really believe that the time has come. The armed forces of Europe should be made.”
A joint continental force has been looted over the years without attaining traction and there is no possibility of transferring Zelansky’s intervention.
In the short term, the priority for the kiev ensures that its voice is heard in any peace talks related to Russia and it is not a bad deal.
Zelansky said in a speech, “Ukraine will never accept the deals behind our back without our participation.”
“No decision about Ukraine without Ukraine. No decisions about Europe without Europe.”
Zelansky warned that Putin would try to use Trump as “a proper in his performance”, possibly trying to go to Moscow for Russia’s WWII win parade in May.
Zelanski is emphasizing for a “security guarantee” from both the United States and Europe to ensure that no peace deal allows Moscow to just resume war.
“Putin cannot offer real safety guarantee, not just because it is a false, but because Russia needs war in its current position to hold power together,” he said.
The Ukrainian leader said that a tremendous ban on Russia and the construction of Ukraine’s army could help secure peace, and said that he was eventually “open” to be European peace soldiers.
‘No time to lose’
European leaders supported Zelansky’s call to action and play an important role to their continent.
German Chancellor Olaf Sholaz said at the Munich Suraksha Sammelan, “If the sovereignty of Ukraine is safe, only peace will happen.”
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk put pressure on Europe and asked to set its own stance on Ukraine and security as the United States suspects its commitment to Europe.
“Europe needs its own action regarding Ukraine and our safety, or other global players will decide about our future.”
“This plan should now be prepared. There is no time to lose.”
NATO boss Mark Rute said that the leaders in Europe were now “being in the concrete planning phase” of the possible security guarantee.
US officials have said that Ukraine will not be released into the cold three years after the Russian attack.
Vance said that after his sitting with Zelansky that Washington was looking for a “durable, permanent peace”, which would not cause any more bloodshed in the coming years.
Rare Earth deal?
But US authorities have sent mixed messages on Washington’s strategy after the Pentagon head Pete Hegseth, which appeared to join NATO from Ukraine or re -prepare all their areas.
It has led to great concerns in Kiev and Europe that Ukraine can be forced into a bad deal that faces the continent with an embossed Putin.
In the bid to keep Washington closed, Kiev has negotiated to provide access to her rare earth mineral deposits in exchange for future US security assistance.
Zelansky said that talks were going on after his meeting with Vance.
While Zelancesi is engaged in his diplomatic push, the situation for his army on the ground in Ukraine continued to deteriorate.
The Russian army on Saturday claimed to have captured a village in the eastern Donnetsk region of Ukraine, which connects major cities close to a road as Moscow gradually eats the area.
Despite suffering from heavy battlefield damage, the Russian army has been moving beyond a year in eastern Ukraine for more than a year because it cuts access to Pokrovsk.
A Russian drone hit a casing manufactured to include radiation in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, when the radiation level came with normal.
“A country that starts such attacks does not want peace. No, they don’t want it,” Zelansky said.
“It is not preparing for the dialogue.”
