Bruce Willis’ wife Emma Heming admitted both sadness and joy on their 17th wedding anniversary as she battles dementia.
“Anniversaries used to bring excitement – now, if I’m being honest, they stir up all the emotions, leaving a heaviness in my heart and a pit in my stomach,” the model wrote via Instagram on Sunday, December 29. Give yourself 30 minutes to sit in the ‘why him, why us’ feeling of anger and sadness.
Hemings, 46, said that after those 30 minutes, she shakes off the sadness and returns to contemplating the blessings of unconditional love. “I would do it all over again in a heartbeat,” she expressed.
Along with the candid message, Hemings shared a throwback photo of herself and Willis, 69, cuddling on the beach as the sun set.
The pair began dating in 2007, seven years after the Die Hard star split from Demi Moore. They tied the knot in 2009 and welcomed daughters Mabel, 12, and Evelyn, 10, during their 15-year union.
Willis has daughters Rumer, 36, Scout, 33, and Tallulah, 30, with Moore, whom she was married to from 1987 to 2000. The ex-spouses have maintained a close relationship over the years, including the actor’s battle with aphasia. Frontotemporal dementia.
