Actress-politician Kangana Ranaut’s film ‘Emergency’ has received a UA certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). Sources confirmed to IndiaToday.in that the makers have been asked to cut some scenes and add disclaimers to some scenes. The CBFC has asked the filmmakers to give disclaimers on the historical events depicted in the film.

The release date of the film has not been decided yet.

The UA certificate means that the film can be watched by audiences of different age groups, but under the guidance of parents. According to reports, Emergency was sent to the censor board for review on July 8. However, last month, the film ran into trouble after various Sikh organisations, including the Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, demanded a ban on the film over its portrayal of the Sikh community.

Several Sikh organisations wrote to the censor board and even approached the court.

Later, Emergency director and producer Kangana Ranaut shared a statement on Instagram about the film’s delay and mentioned, “With a heavy heart, I announce that my directorial venture Emergency has been postponed. We are still awaiting certification from the censor board. The new release date will be announced soon. Thank you for your understanding and patience.”

‘Emergency’, which also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, was originally scheduled to release in theatres on September 6.
