Elon Musk calls X by his old name "Twitter"Internet response

Elon Musk, who renamed Twitter X, forgot the new name of his social media platform. The billionaire entrepreneur referred to X as “Twitter” in a post on Monday after the platform was banned in Brazil.

Mr Musk shared a meme showing a man lying on a pile of money, with the caption “POV: VPN companies after Brazil bans Twitter.” The use of the original name did not go unnoticed, with many users joking that the “rebranding is going well.”

“He’s still calling it Twitter LOL,” one user commented on the post.

Another wrote, “I’m glad you realized the app is still named Twitter.”

“Why are you so excited to share this? I thought your company was called X? This meme is about Twitter,” someone wrote.

Elon Musk’s social media platform X was banned on Saturday after Brazil’s Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes issued a suspension order accusing him of disobeying court orders and spreading misinformation. Mr Musk responded by calling the judge an “evil dictator masquerading as a judge” and accused him of trying to destroy democracy in Brazil.

The ban comes after a months-long standoff between Mr Musk and Brazilian authorities, who are investigating the spread of misinformation on the platform. The judge previously ordered the suspension of several accounts belonging to supporters of former President Jair Bolsonaro who sought to discredit the voting system in the 2022 election.

Mr Musk’s platform has more than 22 million users in Brazil and is accused of promoting misinformation and hate speech. The judge’s order also includes a fine of 50,000 reais (Rs 7.5 lakh) for anyone trying to circumvent the ban using VPNs or other technical means.

Expressing his displeasure, Mr Musk has called the ban an attack on free expression and democracy.
