Ed Sheeran recently released his new album ‘Play’. It embraces Indian and Persian music effects with recently released dance-pap track ‘symmetry’.

The ‘symmetry’ runs on the footsteps of their global smash ‘Neelam’. Opening with loopd vocals and traditional Indian collisions including dhol, Buzauki, and tabla, the track is outlined by a porous, proponent rhythm that develops late night and lively dance floor.

After finishing the chapter of his ‘Mathematics’ series, Sheeran is stepping into a new phase for 2025. For his new album ‘Play’, the English singer-songman has collaborated with manufacturers and musicians from all over the world. His recent songs ‘Samarupata’ and ‘Camera’ entered deeply in timeless sounds and subjects.

‘Play’ reflects Sheeran’s exposure to Indian and Persian music cultures. It also provides a surprising relationship of these Asian music effects for the Irish folk tradition through shared scales, rhythm and tunes. The border music language in the album gives it a fresh, specific edge.

The musician was in India a few months ago. He shot his music video ‘Neelam’, for which he collaborated with singer Arijit Singh. Actor Shah Rukh Khan also painted in the song.

Sheeran recently expressed her love for India, Indian music and Bollywood on her YouTube channel. In a recent conversation with New Zealand -based DJ Zen Lov, he talked about Bollywood music and ‘Om Shanti Om’. The ‘symmetry’ singer said, “It is a treasure of discovery of films, and someone likes, ‘Oh, have you seen this film?” Have you seen ‘Om Shanti Om’?

Some time ago, he praised Arijit’s song ‘Tumor Hi Ho’ from ‘Aashiqui 2’ on his Instagram post. He wrote, “I was first aware of the music of Arijit Singh, when I saw ‘Aashiqui 2’ and heard ‘Tumor Hi Hi’. I was properly mesmerized by his voice, song, scene in the film.”

During his visit to India, the 34 -year -old also performed ‘Urvasi Urvasi’ with AR Rahman at a Chennai concert.
