Dyson launches the Airstraight straightener

Dyson has finally launched the AirStraight straightener in India, priced at Rs 45,900. This new product in Dyson’s range of hair care products promises to offer users a unique hair straightening experience with its innovative technology that styles hair using air while avoiding the traditional use of hot plates to minimise heat damage to hair.

According to Dyson, its AirStraight straightener is designed for various Indian hair types, to allow users to achieve natural straight styles while maintaining hair strength and healthy appearance. Unlike traditional straighteners that use hot plates to flatten hair strands, the AirStraight uses high-pressure air blades to dry and straighten hair simultaneously. The device has two arms that generate a precisely angled air blade, which directs the air flow downwards and into the hair, which both dries and straightens them.

Talking about the concept of the Airstraight straightener, James Dyson, founder and chief engineer of Dyson, says, “Having a strong understanding of how to control and harness the power of powerful air flow is fundamental to the performance of the Dyson Airstraight straightener. This expertise, which we have gained over the last 25 years, has allowed us to introduce our first wet to dry straightener with no hot plates and no heat damage. Combining what people love about straighteners with ease of use along with high-velocity air blades, saves time, maintains hair strength and gives you naturally straight hair every day.”

Features of the Dyson Airstraight straightener

The AirStraight styles hair with minimal heat using controlled airflow, reducing frizz and flyaways and retaining the natural shine. Behind the mechanics, the device works on Dyson’s Hyperdymium motor that generates the required airflow to dry and straighten hair simultaneously. Like other Dyson products in the Dyson hair care range, the AirStraight also features intelligent heat control.

It has glass bead thermistors to measure the airflow temperature up to 16 times per second, ensuring it stays within the required range to prevent heat damage and protect the hair’s natural shine. This data is processed to regulate the heating element, ensuring the airflow does not exceed the required temperature.

The Airstraight features two primary styling modes – ‘Wet’ and ‘Dry’ – as well as a ‘Cool’ mode for setting styles.

Dyson Airstraight Straightener Wet Mode: Wet Mode offers three heat settings: <80°C (175°F), 100°C (212°F), and 115°C (239°F).

Dyson Airstraight straightener Dry mode: Dry mode offers settings of <100°C (212°F) and 130°C (266°F), as well as a top-up "boost" mode at 130°C. Users can control the speed of the airflow with low and high flow settings and can also use cold shot and root drying modes.

The Dyson Airstraight straightener will be available in two colour options for Indian users – Prussian Blue/Rich Copper and Bright Nickel/Rich Copper. Interested buyers can purchase their device at Dyson demo stores, online at dyson.in or via the MyDyson app.
