Dragon Ball Z narrator Doc Harris dies at 76

Doctor Harris, the narrator in the Dragon Ball Z English dub, dies at the age of 76. Ian James Corlett, the voice behind Goku, paid tribute to him on Instagram.

The great storyteller Dr Harris died on Saturday, October 5 at the age of 76. His signed closing phrase “We’ll see you next time in Dragon Ball Z” in the English dub of the anime still resonates in the hearts of viewers.

Harris breathed his last at Vancouver General Hospital on Saturday morning after undergoing what was reported as minor surgery last month, according to a report by Broadcast Dialogue.

Voice-over artist Ian James Corlett, who was the voice behind Goku in the English dub, paid tribute to Harris in a touching post on Instagram. “We lost one of the great players today,” Corlett wrote in the post. He added, “Although Gilbert Auchinleck has departed this mortal circle, his impact on me and countless others will not soon be forgotten. Gil was known as #DocHarris. A Canadian radio superstar And a fixture on the Vancouver airwaves in its long-forgotten heyday. Dragonball fans will remember him as the OG storyteller from the “Ocean Dub” days.”

Referring to how Harris influenced him, Corlett noted, “Doc was a huge force in my early career. More than just a DH, he lived and breathed the music. He also had a keen interest in films. The look was…I remember being impressed by Stark.” The difference between his on-air language, his really salty off-air linguistic style. We both enjoyed working in animation much later in our careers when that industry came into existence with shows like #Barbie #CampCandy (#JohnCandy’s Animated Series) #. “CaptainTheGameMaster and most especially #DragonBall (sic).”

He concluded by writing, “He was one of a kind. This summer, when we were back in Vancouver, I must have said at least 10 times “I must see the doctor on this trip, I love him so much.” Grateful… Okay, at least lunch!” And now it’s too late. Sorry Doc, I owe you a hundred lunches.
