Nagarjuna Akkineni-starrer cult classic Shiva is all set to re-release in theaters on November 14, 2025, 36 years after its original release. Now, the actor has addressed the possibility of remaking the film with his sons Naga Chaitanya or Akhil Akkineni in the lead role.

According to Times of India, while speaking to media personnel, Nagarjuna Akkineni stressed that none of his sons are confident enough to remake Siva. The King actor laughed and said, "Chai and Akhil do not have the courage to remake Shiva."
Continuing the conversation, Nagarjuna recalled his father, late Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR) and his reaction to Siva after watching it during its original release. He shared that his father watched the film two days after its release. While various comments about the film were still coming in, his father took him for a drive and told him that it would be a big hit.
Concluding his remarks, Nagarjuna revealed that he recently watched the 4K-restored version of the film. He said that when he saw Shiva again after years, it felt like he was watching a brand new film, calling it a once in a lifetime experience. Furthermore, he also expressed his desire to work with his wife Amala Akkineni again in future projects.

Shiva, starring Nagarjuna Akkineni and Amala Akkineni in the lead roles, is a crime action drama directed by Ram Gopal Varma, in his directorial debut. The film tells the story of a young man named Shiva who moves to Hyderabad to study at a new college after living with his elder brother’s family.
Upon joining the institution, Shiva becomes aware of the deep influence of the underworld’s control over the student union, campus politics and college affairs. Initially deciding to stay away from the conflict, Shiva is eventually forced to retaliate, setting off a chain of events that leads him into confrontation with gangster Bhavani.
The film narrates how Shiva faces these challenges and what kind of personal loss he has to face during this. Along with Nagarjuna and Amala Akkineni, the film stars Raghuvaran, Vishwanath, Tanikella Bharani, Jeetendra, Murali Mohan, Kota Srinivasa Rao and many others in lead roles.
Based on real events witnessed by Ram Gopal Varma during his college days, the story highlights student exploitation by anti-social elements and the effects of mob psychology. The film was a critical and commercial success upon its release and has since achieved cult status in Indian cinema.
