Donald Trump recently revealed that he once offered United States President Joe Biden $1 million if he could “score 100 in a game of golf.” The former president was speaking at a rally in St Cloud, Minnesota. “I said I’ll take you to any course…if you can score 100 in a game of golf, I’ll give you $1 million,” Mr Trump told the audience. He further added, “He turned me down.”
The real estate tycoon said he changed his offer. “Then I said, I’ll give you ten strokes a side … if you can beat me I’ll give you a million dollars. He didn’t have a chance,” he said. “They talk nice, but it’s all talk,” Mr. Trump said.

Notably, the discussion about golf started during Mr Biden and Mr Trump’s first presidential debate in early June. Mr Trump said he had won two club championships and two regular club crowns despite doubts about his age and level of physical fitness. He claimed that to do that, one had to be “pretty smart” and be able to hit long distances. “I just won two club championships – not even seniors. Two regular club championships. To do that, you have to be pretty smart, and you have to be able to hit the ball long distances. He doesn’t do that. He can’t hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match; he can’t hit a ball 50 yards,” he said.
Responding to this, Mr Biden said, “I would love to take part in the driving competition. When I was the Vice President, I had my handicap reduced to six. By the way, I already told you that if you carry your own bag, I would love to play golf with you. Do you think you can do that?”
The 45th US president then mocked Mr Biden and said it was a “lie”. “That’s the biggest lie – that he’s a six handicap – the biggest lie,” he said.
When questioned, Mr Biden retracted his statement and admitted that he is in fact an eight handicap. However, Mr Trump downplayed his comments and said, “I’ve seen your swing. I know your swing. Let’s not act like children.”
