Don 3 director Farhan Akhtar says what was about Shah Rukh Khan, who proved that his personality was ‘tailor’ for the first two parts

While fans wait for Don 3, director Farhan Akhtar recently opened up why he felt that Shah Rukh Khan is perfect for the role in the first two films. Speaking at the Waves Summit, Farhan said, “Shah Rukh’s personality was tailor for that part.”

The Don franchise began with a 1978 Classic remake of 2006, where Shah Rukh originally entered the prestigious role played by Amitabh Bachchan. Farhan shared that he and SRK became close friends after Dil Chhhata Hai. Between 2001 and 2005, both spent several evenings together. During that time, Farhan began to write a don, and in his mind, only one actor fit the part: Shahrukh.

Farhan said that he was confident from the beginning that SRK was the right choice. He believed that Shah Rukh’s attraction and danger mixture matches the nature of the character. According to him, SRK had humor, confidence and a self-developing style that added depth to the don. This made it easy for Farhan to imagine him in the role. He did not even consider going to anyone else.

She also mentioned that this role was important for Shahrukh, which has always been a big fan of original film and Amitabh Bachchan. Farhan recalled that SRK was once excited by the idea of ​​stepping into the role played by his idol. Was obliged to compare, but Farhan said that he never doubted SRK’s confidence. He felt that Shah Rukh had no fear compared to legends like Bachchan.

Farhan also revealed that the SRK was expecting a proposal. Since they talked about the script while spending time together, Shah Rukh felt that Farhan would eventually contact him with the role. By the time the proposal came, he was already ready to say yes.

Shah Rukh played the role of Don in both the 2006 film and its 2011 sequel, Don 2. Farhan directed both films. In 2023, Farhan announced Don 3, this time Ranveer Singh stepped into the lead role. However, the project has faced many delays, and the filming has not begun yet. At the end of 2024, rumors were revealed that the film could be re -postponed, but the production house quickly denied the claims. So far, Don 3 lives in the pipeline, and Farhan has not directed another film since Don 2.
