Karuppi, the beloved dog from the 2018 critically acclaimed film Pariyaram Perumal, died in Tirunelveli on Diwali. According to reports, Karuppi ran away from her home due to the noise of firecrackers and was hit by a bus and died. Actor Kathir, who played the lead role in Pariyaram Perumal, shared pictures from the film and condoled the demise of the beloved dog.

In Perayaram Perumal, Karuppi was the companion of Pariyaan (Kathir). Coincidentally, the dog in the film also meets the same fate. In the film, Karuppi is tied to a railway track and dies a painful death.

Karuppi was later cremated in Tirunelveli. Soon after the news broke, fans of the film shared condolence messages on X.

Kathir shared a touching post for Karuppi quoting lines from the film’s song Aadi Karuppi. He wrote, “Hope you find peace #karuppi #RIP @mari_selvaraj @beamji @music_santosh @anandhiyaactress @iYogiBabu (sic).”

Director Pa Ranjith’s production house, Neelam Productions, shared a black-and-white photo of Karuppi and wrote, “Farewell Karuppi, go free. You will always be remembered 🙂 (sic).”
