Jayam Ravi has unfortunately been at the receiving end of several comments and criticisms due to both his personal and professional life. His personal life grabbed attention recently after he announced his divorce from wife Aarti Ravi, but now the actor has clarified whether he was the reason behind the removal of Silambarasan TR from Ponniyin Selvan-I.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Jayam Ravi cleared the air on the rumours of his rift with Silambarasan TR and not working with him. He revealed if his feud with STR was the reason behind his removal from Mani Ratnam’s film Ponniyin Selvan-I.
In response, Jayam said that it was a one in a million opportunity for him to work with such a filmmaker. He also said that it is completely baseless to assume that a person like Mani Ratnam would listen to his demands in terms of casting for a magnum opus like PS-I.
The actor said, “For 21 years I had been dreaming of working with Mani Ratnam sir and when I got this opportunity in Ponniyin Selvan, I felt blessed and was very happy. Firstly, do you think I would make such a demand when I finally got the chance to work with Mani Ratnam sir? Secondly, do you think such a big director would actually listen to me?”
Continuing his revelations, Jayam Ravi further revealed that he and Silambarasan TR, whom he fondly calls ‘Simbu’, on the contrary, are really good friends. In fact, he also stressed that it would have been a blast for both him and Simbu on the sets if they both worked together in PS-I.
Jayam revealed that both of them are really good friends and when this rumour first came out, they discussed it amongst themselves and it was a good one between them. Furthermore, he also revealed that if the two had worked together, it could have been a fun experience overall.
Meanwhile, Jayam Ravi is in the news for filing a divorce with his wife Aarti and ending their 15-year marriage. It is also being speculated that the actor is dating Bangalore-based singer Kenisha Francis.
However, the actor has clarified during an interview with DT Next that all the speculations about the two of them are completely baseless. He revealed knowing Kenisha as a spiritual healer and said that he wants to collaborate with her and open a spiritual center.
