Ramesh Taurani reveals how Dil Se became Preity Zinta’s first film

The 1998 film Soldier was Preity Zinta’s first film as a lead actor. However, before the Abbas-Mustan film could release, Shah Rukh Khan stepped in and Dil Se became her first film. Speaking about this to News18 Showsha, producer Ramesh Taurani revealed that he had first signed Preity Zinta for Kya Kehna, but the film released a little late in the year 2000.

However, while this film was being made, the actress was cast in Soldier opposite Bobby Deol. The producer further explained that he had a contract with Zinta that no matter what, her film would release first. Meanwhile, he got an offer for Dil Se and he allowed her to take that small part. Having said that, he stood by the contract he had made with her.

But what happened was that Dil Se was made on time and Soldier was also ready for release. But Ramesh Taurani’s Soldier got delayed because the music of Bobby’s film Kareeb was to be released in June. Seeing the delay, Shahrukh Khan and Mani Ratnam contacted him and asked him to release Dil Se before Soldier. The producer agreed to this and thus Dil Se was released before Soldier and Kya Kehna.

Shooting of Soldier 2 will start in 2025

In the same conversation, Ramesh Taurani also talked about the sequel of Soldier. Responding positively, he said that the shooting of the film will start next year. However, he did not confirm the presence of Bobby Deol and Preity Zinta in the film. According to him, this important decision about the cast will depend on how the story shapes up.
