Director Rekash Omprakash Mehra once considered Randeep Hooda for an important role in praising the 2006 film Basanti. However, Hooda chose Ram Gopal Varma to move away from the project to work on a film. In a recent conversation, showing that decision, Murder 2 actor confessed that he turned down the role as he did not want to stand behind Aamir Khan in the poster, “My Jat Akad Nikla IEE.”
In a recent conversation with Shubhankar Mishra, Randeep Hooda revealed that he was initially considered for the role of Bhagat Singh in Rang de Basanti, who eventually went to actor Siddharth. Hooda considered that his career could be taken to another level due to being a part of the film.
The Sultan actor recalled the audition for the role and was constantly encouraged by director Rekash Omprakash Mehra, which, according to Hooda, would sometimes appear under influence and urge to accept the project.
However, Hooda chose to move away from the film after filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, told him that he was considered for the lead in D, saying that he would be seen in a supporting role behind Aamir Khan on the poster of Wrang de Basanti.
The highway actor admitted that his ego played a role in the judgment, saying that his pride made him difficult to accept a secondary role. He also revealed that he turned down Rock !! Due to similar reasons.
Hooda explained why he had chosen to reject career-defined roles in favor of more niche projects. He shared that he had always worked with a different type of filmmakers and producers instead of the inner sources of the industry, believing that he had contributed to the development of his slow career.
Hooda admitted that he once thought that his craft would be enough to pursue his career alone, but now he understands that he takes more than just talent to succeed in the industry. Huda is currently the co-act of Sunny Deol under Jat’s success.
