Chocolate cravings can strike anytime and when they do, it’s hard to resist. In such situations, most of us are drawn to chocolate ice cream or a gooey chocolate brownie. However, did you know that you can satisfy your chocolate cravings using leftover rice in your fridge? Shocked? Well, we were shocked too when we came across a recipe shared by baker and author Shivesh Bhatia on his Instagram page. In the video, he shows how you can turn leftover rice into a delicious and mouth-watering chocolate mousse. Yes, you heard it right! Are you curious to know more about this unique dessert? Read on!

Is chocolate mousse healthy?

It depends on what kind of ingredients you use to make your chocolate mousse. Typically, chocolate mousse recipes include sugar, heavy cream, and sometimes butter, which gives it a low rating on the nutrition scale. But if you swap out these ingredients for better options, it can definitely meet the criteria for a healthy dessert. For example, this recipe doesn’t use sugar or cream. It only has two ingredients: steamed rice and melted dark chocolate.

What type of chocolate is best for making chocolate mousse?

There are no hard and fast rules about what kind of chocolate you should use to make mousse. However, if you ask us, we would recommend choosing dark chocolate with a high cocoa content. This will make your mousse really chocolatey and delicious. If you find the taste of dark chocolate too bitter, use semi-sweet chocolate instead. Avoid using milk chocolate, as it won’t give that distinct chocolate flavor.

How to Make 2-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse | Chocolate Mousse Recipe

Start melting the dark chocolate in the microwave, heating it at 30-second intervals until it melts completely. Combine the cooked rice, boiled water, and melted dark chocolate in a blender. Blend until you get a smooth, velvety mousse-like texture. Pour the mixture into a bowl and let it cool for 2 hours until it solidifies. Once solidified, sprinkle cocoa powder on top and enjoy! Your delicious chocolate mousse is ready to eat!
