Director Vivek Agnihotri on Delhi Files: It could have been called Bengal Files but…
Director Vivek Agnihotri had earlier shared details about The Delhi Files in an exclusive and explained why it was not called The Bengal Files. The director will release the first part of Delhi Files, titled Bengal Chapter, on Independence Day 2025.
Director Vivek Agnihotri is ready with his next film after The Vaccine War. The filmmaker announced that his next film, titled Delhi Files, will release in theaters on Independence Day next year. It will complete his Files trilogy, which also includes The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. Earlier, in an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, Agnihotri had shared what the film will be about and why he didn’t name it The Bengal Files.
“I could have called it The Bengal Files because the film is about the day of direct action in Bengal and how the politics of Bengal has affected India,” Vivek Agnihotri told India Today Digital during an exclusive interview. He further added, “We called it Delhi Files because the destiny of India is written in Delhi, not in Bengal. Bengal has suffered because of what happened in Delhi in the 1940s. But yes, the film is mostly related to Direct Action Day. Is.” , What happened in Noakhali and Bengal.”

Speaking further about why he chose this subject for his next film, Agnihotri said, “Many great things about India have their origins in Bengal. The Bharat Mata that we imagine comes from Banga Mata. There is this whole movement of nationalism, then Bengal renaissance. You name one region, and you will realize that the contribution of Bengal is huge. So, I am concerned about where it is going, hence, it is very important to create Bengal files. So that the world knows how Bengal’s contribution is being destroyed.”
The Delhi Files will be released in two parts. The first part will be called Bengal Chapter and will be released on 15 August 2025,
