National Award-winning film director and producer Madhur Bhandarkar, who is known for making difficult films often inspired by real-life events, is all set for his next film. Madhur, who is known for films like Fashion, Heroine and Page 3 among many others, spoke exclusively to India Today Digital about his next project, which is based on the lives of people from the entertainment industry.

Madhur shared, “My audience has a certain kind of expectations from me. They know very well that if I am working on a film, I will make sure that I bring some kind of ‘expose’ to my subject matter. Not only this, whenever I am seen talking to people anywhere, they assume that I am doing my research because I am probably making a film on that topic. I am definitely someone who takes into account every little detail of the subject on which I decide to make a film. This time, my next film is about the real life of Bollywood wives. I have decided to title my next film Wives of Bollywood and I have had this title for a very long time.

Madhur further added, “I have always been attracted to this subject and I think it will be interesting for my audience too. Originally this title was mine. Everyone wants to know the reality and truth behind the dazzling life of the wives of Bollywood superstars. There are a lot of layers to it and being the wife of a mega-superstar is not that easy. I found this topic very interesting because no one really knows what happens behind stardom, what situations they have to face, how these wives take their husbands to stardom and what scandals and gossips they go around their husbands. How do you deal with it? Not only this, even how these wives bear the hit and flop films of their husbands.

“I have a marathon script on the subject, but by now I have revisited the script four to five times and made changes and added many new elements to it. I think this film of mine will definitely open the eyes of the audience. I don’t know how the film fraternity will react to it, but it is going to be a very serious and intense film as I have taken inspiration from many real Bollywood wives and added fantasy to it, yet made sure that it remains close to are. For reality. I am hoping that like my other films like Fashion, Page 3 and Corporate have been appreciated by the people of our industry, hopefully they will not be upset or angry with Wives of Bollywood because if you appreciated that kind of cinema of mine has and has put I on a pedestal, then you should definitely appreciate the subject matter too,” the filmmaker concluded.
