A London-based backup dancer has reportedly walked out of the European leg of Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Tour, accusing the management team of being “unprofessional and stressful without respect”. However, according to the Free Press Journal, a source close to the tour dismissed the allegations, calling them “baseless and untrue”, adding that with a superstar like Diljit it is easy for anyone and everyone to comment and make news out of it. The British-Indian dancer mentioned that she was selected to perform as a backup dancer for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati Europe Tour, which she described as a potential high point in her professional dancing career.
However, she revealed that she had decided to withdraw from the tour. He also cited a previous July issue related to payment of dues to dancers during Dosanjh’s US tour, which the singer’s manager had denied at the time.
Sajan claimed that he and other dancers were informed by Dosanjh’s team that they would be paid 80 GBP (approximately Rs 8,800) for the European leg of the tour. Additionally, they were expected to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses for most trips, even international travel.
Despite this, the team assured him that it would be a “once in a lifetime” opportunity, which initially convinced him to agree as a fan. However, he expressed disappointment that the low pay reflected the way he was treated, describing the management team as highly unprofessional and disrespectful.
The dancer alleged that the management team failed to communicate effectively with the artistes. He described the situation as chaotic and said there was a lack of respect and clear communication, which worried him for a long time.
He said messages were often ignored and dancers were removed suddenly without any explanation. According to him, rehearsals were not given priority, due to which the quality of the stage performance was affected due to last-minute preparations. Despite wanting to try it, she felt she could no longer support such low standards in the dance industry.
FPJ, quoting a source close to the Tour team, refuted Sajan’s allegations and called them baseless and false. The source said that with a superstar like Diljit Dosanjh, it is easy for anyone to comment and turn it into news.
