Diljit Dosanjh faces legal action in connection with alcohol consumption at Ludhiana concert
Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana is facing legal hurdles after an educationist’s complaint urged the authorities to ban some songs promoting alcohol. Ludhiana was the last stop of his highly successful Dil-Luminati Tour.

Singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh’s New Year’s Eve concert in Ludhiana is embroiled in a legal dispute following a complaint by Panditrao Dharnevar, an assistant professor at a college in Chandigarh.
Due to the complaint, the Deputy Director of Women and Children’s Department of Punjab Government issued a notice to the Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana, urging him to ban certain songs during Dosanjh’s live show on December 31, 2024. The notice specifically targets songs that have been accused of promoting alcohol, such as ‘Patiala Peg’, ‘5 Tara Theke’, and ‘Kes (Jeeb Vicho Feem Labbiya)’, even though the lyrics were changed. Have gone.

Dharnevar’s complaint references previous warnings by various commissions advising Dosanjh against performing these tracks. Dharnevar expressed concern about the impact of these songs on young listeners, especially when underage children were present. He cited a 2019 Punjab and Haryana High Court judgment that directed police to ensure that no songs promoting alcohol, drugs or violence are played at public events. According to the court, such songs have a negative impact on impressionable children.
Dharnevar is set to take the matter to the High Court and criticized Dosanjh for performing these songs wearing a turban (turban), saying he believes it should not be associated with negative values.
The Ludhiana concert was a last-minute addition to Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati India Tour.Concluding their three-month nationwide program. Initially scheduled to end in Guwahati, the Ludhiana show was announced for 23 December and quickly sold out.
Dosanjh faced similar scrutiny in other cities during the tour. In November, he received a legal notice in Hyderabad for singing songs promoting alcohol and violence. In Indore he addressed the allegations of black marketing of tickets. Earlier in the year, Dosanjh made headlines for comments about alcohol in his music, promising that he would stop singing about it if the government banned alcohol across the country.,
Despite these legal challenges, Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati tour has been a huge success, with tickets selling fast at every stop.
