Dulquer Salmaan and Fahadh Faasil are undoubtedly two great actors of contemporary Indian cinema who have garnered critical acclaim with their skills. However, did you know that both of them were considered to play the lead roles in a gangster drama film, which was later shelved?
Yes, according to a report by Digital Creator on a Friday, the makers had roped in acclaimed director Aneesh Anwar for a project titled Gangs of Banddukka. For this, the makers had considered actors DQ and Fafa along with five other heroes for the lead roles, making it a multi-starrer film.
The director’s ambitious project was said to be based on real-life characters and involved different generations. The film narrated events between 1979-2019, in which the director visits a village in Bandadukka along with screenwriter Nizam Ravuthar.
It is being said that the story of this film is narrative and it is also full of action. After the success of Angamaly Diaries, its makers decided to go ahead with this project. Actor-producer Vijay Babu also confirmed this in an interview to Cinema Express. The producer also claimed that the script of the film is one of the best action scripts he has read.
The makers also considered moving the project forward by casting new actors to avoid fan backlash. However, the COVID-19 pandemic delayed the project heavily resulting in it being shelved. Though the plans have been dropped, it would have been a dream cast if both DQ and Fahadh shared the screen once again after Bangalore Days.
Talking about the professional lineup of actors, Dulquer Salmaan will next be seen in the film Lucky Baskhar directed by Venky Atluri. The film is a drama thriller based on the story of a banker and his mysterious rise to wealth in the 1980s.
The film stars Meenakshi Chaudhary in the lead role, while actors like Sai Kumar, Hyper Aadi, Ayesha Khan and Surya Srinivas play pivotal roles. On the other hand, Fahadh Faasil will soon be seen playing the lead role in films like Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyaan and Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule.
