Trigger warning: This article mentions death.
Shannen Doherty expressed excitement about a new project in her final podcast episode, which was released just days before her death at age 53. On the July 8 episode of Let’s Be Clear, she announced her participation in The House of Halliwell, a Charmed rewatch podcast, alongside former co-stars Holly Marie Combs, Brian Krause and Drew Fuller.
Originally launched in 2022, the Rewatch podcast will shut down in October 2023. Its current version is described as a reboot of the original podcast.

Doherty joins the Charmed rewatch podcast after an 18-month hiatus
Doherty, best known for playing Prue Halliwell in the first three seasons of Charmed, announced on her podcast that she would be joining the Rewatch podcast alongside her former co-star Holly Marie Combs, who played Piper Halliwell. Initially, Doherty declined to join 18 months ago.
During the podcast, Combs jokingly implied that Doherty was the reason the podcast was shut down, which Doherty jokingly acknowledged, saying, “Shannon always gets the blame.” Combs jokingly added, “I’m glad you joined us when I asked you a year and a half ago. She needs a lot of convincing.”
Doherty was initially hesitant to join because she misunderstood what a podcast entailed, thinking it required a formal deal and upfront payment like a TV show. Combs received a message from Doherty expressing interest once a producer and funding were secured, though the podcast was initially independent. Eventually, Doherty agreed to join the House of Halliwell podcast after these conditions were met

Doherty, Combs, Krause and Fuller debut in Charmed rewatch podcast reboot

Hosts Holly Marie Combs, Shannen Doherty, Brian Krause, and Drew Fuller discuss the origins of the podcast and the possibility of a Charmed reboot. In each episode, the four candidly discuss themes, costumes, hairstyles, set memories, and their acting processes.
The podcast description hinted at a surprise guest appearance, though it’s unclear how many episodes were recorded before Doherty’s passing. In her July 8 podcast episode, she mentioned watching about 4 or 5 Charmed episodes to prepare for the podcast and praised Combs’ acting, noting that their friendship inspired her to take the part. Doherty expressed excitement for the Halliwell house, highlighting the chemistry between the hosts.
In preparation for the Rewatch podcast, Shannen Doherty watched all of the Charmed episodes for the first time, except for the ones she directed. She was impressed by the sisters’ bond and was nervous about becoming involved due to the established dynamics. Holly Marie Combs reassured her, emphasizing Doherty’s artistic vision and significant contribution to the show’s direction and visual style.
