Filmmaker Shankar has been in the news recently for his latest release Game Changer starring Ram Charan. Amid the mixed response the film received, the director was also asked to delay his second film, Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead role. In a recent interview, he explained what exactly went wrong later that led to the multiple delays.
Speaking with Behindwoods TV, Shankar revealed that he has always preferred to complete one project at a time, adding that he spends a maximum of one and a half years on a film.
However, things changed in the case of Indian 2, whose shooting was marred by external factors. He then decided to move forward with the first Game Changer, until things calmed down for the first film in the meantime, which included the return of the actors and crew.
Shankar said, “It takes me a maximum of one and a half years to complete a film. If it extends beyond this, it is due to external factors, including actors’ dates and cancellations for various reasons. When a shoot gets cancelled, it is not easy to bring all the actors back.
Moving on, the director also opened up about his working style and how he plans everything in advance, including maintaining space for the worst moment if anything goes wrong.
Shankar mentioned how he keeps a keen eye on the working conditions, including weather and other factors in cases of outdoor shooting, so that nothing tampers with the flow of work on the film.
He thus concluded that the delay of Indian 2 was based on the fact that once a certain thing gets derailed for a film, it is difficult to get it back to the original state as it takes a lot of time, and thus delays. .
