Liam Payne suffered from excessive drinking for several years before his tragic death. The One Direction band member died on October 16 at the age of 31, and just days after the fatal crash, a new report reveals that Payne had days when he was in the grip of drug addiction .
A source close to the late musician told Page Six that the singer ODed a few years ago. Another senior musician in the industry said that Payne used to overdose at least twice a week.
Following his rehabilitation days, Payne was offered a Netflix series with Nicole Scherzinger and Kelly Rowland. A close source shared that the former boy band member’s manager was pressuring him to take on the project, but Payne was not ready to be on screen at the time.
“His manager pushed him to do the show and we exchanged several concerned messages,” the source said. He added, “We were surprised; He was in no condition to do this.”
One of the insiders also shared that a few months before the singer’s death, he isolated himself from people who tried to take care of him or try to help him.
According to a previous report by Page Six, Liam’s new manager had intervened and was trying to get Payne back on tour. A well-known source shared, “Liam’s manager took him to Miami, and cut him off from all his friends, she isolated him.”

Meanwhile, a few months before his death, the Story of My Life singer moved in with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, who was with the musician 2 days before his death. While Payne remained in Buenos Aires, he later flew back to Florida.
Speaking about the late singer going through a tough time in his career following his split from One Direction, a source revealed that he can’t seem to find the right path. Elaborating on the statements, the source said, “His heart was broken and he never recovered. He was lost without his brothers.”
Liam Payne gained popularity over the years by performing in the band One Direction with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Harry Styles. The group members met each other on the set of The X-Factor in 2010.
Payne is survived by his parents, sisters, and son, Bear.
