When actor Diana Penty made her acting debut with Cocktail (2012), she was stepping into the big, competitive world of Bollywood. And in the first outing, she had to share screen space with established actors like Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan.
The experience could have been easily heavy, especially because Deepika was already a major star since then. Naturally, many people will expect the first-time feel frightened. However, in a chat with India today, the actor revealed that the experience became one of the most heartbreaks of his career instead.
A long -standing industry stereotype that women on the film set can not really be friends, always meet with rivalry, jealousy and competition, especially between senior and junior actors. We asked Diana about her experience and was taken into consideration these apprehensions and apprehensions when she came on board for the film. The actor explained, “This was my first time, and there was no way that I was going to feel pressure (about sharing space with Deepika). I was just very happy, and I respect the fact that she (right) was sharing that place with me because she did not have to do it.”
“He was a great support for me, because it was my first film and I did not know anyone. I did not know how things used to work on a set. I remember my first day and my first scene. They were all there, I was happy. It was very sweet,” Diana said.
Asked if she ever feels frightened by Deepika, ‘Do do you want partner’ actor was clear that both Saif and Deepika were absolutely helpful to her. He said that Deepika became a “calm and convincing strength” for her. Diana added, “It made me so easy as an actor for the first time. Both Saif and Deepika took that role without asking or forcing them. They were really kicking to take the role of being my support system.”
“Every time, if I was nervous before the scene or if I was staggering, or forgot my lines, they would simply like, ‘It’s okay, let’s play each other. Let’s get out of the camera with us a little bit’, and they will make me comfortably so that when we were doing, it was swept away, and I really appreciate it.”
Diana’s first experience also shaped her ideas on the story of the industry about women. The actor said, “This was just the most amazing first experience for me, and that is why I entered the industry thinking this, why do people say that women may not be on the sets (friends) and they have always been talking about this casualty.”
“I had experienced in my first film anytime. In fact, I experienced quite opposite. I had the most supportive woman and became like that kind of benchmark. You begin to believe that it is going to happen every time,” she left.
“In addition, for me, I have not again been in a position where I (leaving her latest show), the screen had to be shared with another woman. Fortunately, this has been another amazing experience. Therefore, both my experiences have been so positive and hot and friendly and dear that I am not sure that it is impossible,” Diana said.
She further spoke warmly about having many friends in the industry and really believing that when women come together, they can produce magic. The actor admitted that while a certain level of competition exists, and is healthy, there is enough space for all to push their own way forward. “Every person makes some unique contribution, so it is not a rivalry,” he insisted.
