Dhurandhar’s Rakesh Bedi rejects comparisons with Pak politician: I love you, Nabeel
Rakesh Bedi clarifies the confusion on the inspiration behind portraying Jameel Jamali in Dhurandhar: The Revenge. He also addressed claims of his character being based on a real-life politician.

Pakistani politician Nabeel Gabol had expressed disappointment over the alleged fictional portrayal of him in director Aditya Dhar’s film. Dhurandhar: Revenge. Actor Rakesh Bedi, who played the role of Jamil Jamali in the film, responded to Gabol in a humorous manner.
Bedi said in an interview The LallantopMentioned that there is no similarity between him and Gabol, except for the fact that both look alike.
He said, “I would like to say, I love you, Nabil Gabol. I love you very much, and it’s a coincidence that I resemble you a little bit. But I can’t help it.”

Speaking about the similarity, the actor said, “Neither your father came to India, nor my father to Pakistan. But apart from our looks, we look alike; there is a slight heaviness in our bodies, which makes us look alike. I even wore similar clothes in the film, so we looked alike. Apart from that there is no similarity between me and him.”
He strongly rejected claims that the character was based on the politician. Bedi concluded, “My character is not based on Nabeel Gabol. Jamil Jamali is inspired by many such politicians of Pakistan.”

A few days ago, a video had surfaced in which Gabol had announced plans to make his own film after facing intense online trolling after its release. Dhurandhar: Revenge. Responding to the backlash, Gabol said he would respond “powerfully” and convey through cinema what Lyari “really is”.
His proposed film, tentative title Lyari’s GabbarThe film is positioned as a direct response to producer Aditya Dhar’s espionage drama, which has sparked debate on social media platforms.
Gabol also criticized the portrayal of Jamil Jamali, particularly a narrative turn that shows the man as an intelligence operative. He argued that his personality and role were misrepresented in the portrayal, saying that aspects of Lyari’s image were exaggerated in the film.
Apart from Bedi, Dhurandhar: Revenge Actors Ranveer Singh, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, Gaurav Gera, Manav Gohil, Udaybir Sandhu and others are in lead roles. The film is co-produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios.
