Dhurandhar The Revenge review: Ranveer Singh’s power-packed act, mind-blowing twists make this 4-hour gamble a success

plot

Ranveer Singh-Sukhlihan Dhurandhar The Revenge has a runtime of 229 minutes and 6 seconds, approximately four hours. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the second installment revolves around Hamza Ali Mazari, an Indian agent who is embroiled in a major battle against Pakistan’s ISI chief Major Iqbal, played by Arjun Rampal.

The narrative traces Jaskirat Singh Rangi’s transformation into Hamza, how he navigates enemy territory with composure and patience, and whether he ultimately succeeds in his mission as Sher-e-Baloch. The film answers all of these questions while constantly keeping the stakes high.

what works

Aditya Dhar’s sharp writing and minute details come through. The chapter-wise narrative structure simplifies storytelling, ensuring clarity without disrupting the flow. Despite its long runtime, Dhar keeps the audience engaged throughout.

The middle introduction of the main characters adds intrigue, while the emotional part emerges as the film’s biggest strength. Patriotism is at its peak, with many moments designed to elicit applause.

Given the scale of the action and bombastic sequences, the film relies heavily on CGI and succeeds largely. Dhar’s direction deserves praise; Putting together a nearly four-hour narrative in today’s age of short attention spans is no small feat.

Frequent surprises and special cameos add to the excitement, making the viewing experience consistently engaging.

what is not

The first half, especially the second chapter, feels a bit dull. Additionally, while the background score of the first installment became iconic, the BGM here does not match those expectations.

That said, the musical still has its moments; The sad version of Gahad Hua and Arijit Singh’s emotional climax track, along with some well-placed classics, leave an impact.
