Espionage thriller starring actor Ranveer Singh stalwart has added another milestone to its overseas collection by surpassing SS Rajamouli’s nine-year-old record baahubali 2. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film became the highest-grossing Indian film in North America.
The film has cemented its position as the highest-grossing Hindi release in India, earning over Rs 800 crore and inching closer to the Rs 1000 crore grossing mark, as reported Hindustan Times. The report noted that despite being banned in the Middle East, it has grossed a remarkable $32 million overseas, mainly driven by historic performances in North America. As of Tuesday, the spy thriller has grossed $21 million in the US and Canada, officially surpassing the record of $20.7 million held by the Prabhas and Rana Daggubati-starrer since 2017. baahubali 2.
During its $21 million run in the US, stalwart outperformed many big hits including Kalki 2898 AD ($18.5 million), Pathan ($17.5 million), and young ($15.6 million). This film even surpassed its box office earnings RRR ($15.3 million), Pushpa 2 ($15.3 million), Animal ($14 million), and riot ($12.4 million), as reported by HT. The report highlights that in addition to its North American success, it has emerged as the highest-grossing Indian film in Australia and is currently ranked 13th on the all-time list of highest-grossing Indian films in overseas markets.
In stalwartRanveer plays the role of undercover agent Hamza Ali Mazari. The film also brings together a formidable cast: R Madhavan as Indian spy master Ajay Sanyal, Sanjay Dutt as SP Chaudhary Aslam, Akshaye Khanna as real-life gangster Rehman Dacoit, and Arjun Rampal as ISI Major Iqbal, who is inspired by terrorist Ilyas Kashmiri.
Actress Sara Arjun is also debuting with Ranveer in this film. Actors Rakesh Bedi, Manav Gohil, Gaurav Gera, Danish Pandor, Raj Zutshi, Saumya Tandon and others are in lead roles.
