Dhanush confirmed Vada Chennai 2 filming to start next year
After years of speculation and fan expectations, Dhanush has officially announced the sequel to his acclaimed gangster drama ‘Vada Chennai’. The project will be resumed with director Wetrimaran, with the production starting next year.

Dhanush, who has released at least two consecutive projects, has now confirmed a long -awaited sequel for his 2018 gangster drama ‘Vada Chennai’, while balanced several projects as an actor and director. Constantly ending rumors about the shelter of the project, the actor officially announced that ‘Vada Chennai 2’, directed by Vitararan, would go to the floor next year.
In the audio launch of his upcoming film ‘Kubera’, Dhanush addressed the fan demand for a sequel for a sequel and said, “You’re asking for it since 2018, okay? Next year.” The small clip of his statement has gone viral on social media, in which fans are provoking happiness. The video captured cheers loudly from the audience, which outlines the huge expectation around the project.
Director Wetrimaran also confirmed earlier that the production of ‘Vada Chennai 2’ would begin after Suriya wrapped ‘Vadiwasal’.
The first part, ‘Vada Chennai’, is a serious gangster drama focused on ANBU, a young carom board player who inadvertently joins the Criminal underworld and politics of Northern Chennai. The film ends at a clifted, opening several fiction threads for the sequel. It stars Andrea Jeremia, Aishwarya Rajesh, Kishore, Daniel Balaji, Samuthikani and Pawan.
Despite confirming the project despite both Dhanush and Vartarran, the actor’s busy lineup questions the exact production timeline. Dhanush is waiting for the release of ‘Idli Kadai’, which is directed by itself, and ‘Tere Ishaq Meen’ with Anand L. Rai.
Beyond this, the actor also announced ‘D56’ with Marri Selvaraj, a Hindi language biopic on Abdul Kalam directed by Arun Matsheshwaran and Abdul Kalam directed by Om Raut.

Meanwhile, ‘Kubera’, ‘Fida’ filmmakers from the filmmaker from ‘Fida’, and starring Nagarjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Jim Sarbh, are set to release on 20 June.
