Delivery driver’s sweet note goes viral, raises funds for his wedding

Phoenix, Arizona resident Erica Hernandez found more than just a Chipotle order when she opened her delivery bag. Inside was a handwritten note from her delivery driver, Paul Slobodzian, explaining his side hustle. Slobodzian had been working extra shifts to save money for his dream wedding with his fiancée, Ellie Perkins. The heartwarming note read: “I’m driving for (a food delivery service) on the side to give my fiancée the wedding she deserves. Any extra tip via the app or Venmo is greatly appreciated!”

Impressed by Slobodzian’s dedication, Hernandez posted a photo of the note on social media, writing, “Hopefully it reaches the right people.” What started out as a kind gesture on Hernandez’s part soon turned into something much bigger. Despite his modest following, the video went viral, garnering over 33 million views!

“I just wanted to see if my friends or followers would be willing to help,” Hernandez told Fox News.
The power of social media got people going. Slobodzian’s Venmo account was flooded with donations from viewers. Even Chipotle and a wedding planner got in on the giving spirit, contributing to the couple’s dream wedding.

In less than a week, the couple raised enough money to throw themselves and Allie a wonderful celebration. Overwhelmed with gratitude, Slobodzian took to social media to thank everyone who donated.

“We are extremely grateful for this support,” Slobodzian said. “It’s very overwhelming, but in the best way.”
