Every development on both sides of the border closely with the nation, here is a look at how the growing situation has affected the entertainment industry.
I & b advisory results
On Thursday, India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued an advice to shut down the materials arising in Pakistan. “In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and middlemen working in India are advised to discontinue web-series, movies, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether it is available on membership-based models or otherwise, it originated with immediate effect in Pakistan.”
A quick discovery in major OTT platforms suggests that Netflix, Gehotstar and Prime Video currently host no Pakistani materials. Popular shows like ‘Zindagi Gulzar Hai’ and ‘Hamsafar’ were allegedly available on Netflix a few years ago, but have been removed since then.
Zee Zindagi, once streamted the original Pakistani content, has also removed such title from his platform. Even starring ‘Barzakh’, Fawad Khan and Sanam Saeed, have been taken below Zee5. A source close to the channel told India Today that the material was removed before any formal advice as a precaution to avoid a possible dispute.

Even before Operation Sindoor, YouTube blocked Pakistani channels Hum TV and Arya Digital – both are known for popular soap opera streaming in India. Additionally, 16 other channels were allegedly banned for spreading misinformation. However, platforms such as Coke Studios Pakistan and music are accessible by Pakistani artists. A trade source showed that the advisor was released only on Thursday evening and would take time to be fully implemented.
“In addition, it has been said that the material which was originated in Pakistan, but a lot of material has also been prepared by Pakistani artists in India. So there is no clarity around it. Coke is a global brand, so we still do not know that coke studio comes in Pakistan-root material. As time passes, we will do better clarity,” he said.
Live event canceled
Even before the official advice was released, many celebrities took conscious steps to postpone or cancel their events in the light of the sensitive situation. On Friday, Tamil actor Kamal Haasan announced the re -determination of the audio launch for his upcoming film ‘Thug Life’, which was originally to be held on 16 May.
“The art can wait. India comes first. As our soldiers are firm on the frontline with courage in protecting our motherland, I believe it is a time for calm solidarity, not a celebration. A new date will be announced later, will be made at a more suitable time. At this time, our thoughts are brave for our armed forces, which should stop our country, which should be concretely.
