After Nitesh Tiwari expressed his displeasure over the remake of ‘Ramayan’, Dipika Chikhlia spoke to India Today.in about Prabhas and Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Adipurush’. Om Raut’s 2023 film opened with great expectations, however, it was heavily criticised for its dialogues, VFX and poor screenplay.

Dipika Chikhlia told us that children who watched ‘Adipurush’ came back from the cinema halls ‘affected’ and this bothers her. She said, “Every time it happens that a child, who is five years old or eight years old and who has watched ‘Adipurush’ with his parents – when he grows up, his image will be similar to the scenes shown in ‘Adipurush’. This is harming your future. This bothers me more than anything.”

“At that time, your parents won’t explain that Ravana wasn’t like that. He didn’t eat non-vegetarian food, Sita wasn’t like that. Nobody is explaining that to the child. They just come back and are absolutely shocked. But that child has been affected and damaged, and it’s not going to go back,” the actor said.

For those who don’t know, one of the most controversial scenes in ‘Adipurush’ showed Raavan enjoying non-vegetarian food. Deepika said, “Ravana was a Brahmin. He was Shiva. Devotee. He had a lot of good qualities. He wasn’t just a villain. He wasn’t just a bad guy. The only bad thing he did was kidnap somebody’s wife. That was a very bad thing. Otherwise, he was a bad guy. Scholar (Researcher). It didn’t feel right to show him as a street thug (It was not nice to portray him as a roadside goon).”

We asked Dipika Chikhlia if she has watched ‘Adipurush’ and if she is disappointed with its results. She said, “I watched a bit on TV and I was very sad. I did not like it at all.”

Apart from being an actor, Chikhlia is also an active politician. We asked him about his seamless transition from acting to politics and if his experience in the entertainment industry ever influenced his political career.

“You grow as a person and your perspective as a person is greatly enriched with the different kinds of people you meet and the experiences you have. It adds to who you are. That’s when you make the right decisions.”

She further added, “I’ve worked in business with my husband, I’ve been in politics, been an actor. There are a lot of decisions that you have to make. You gain experience, and you know what’s going to work and what’s not. It really helps when you’ve been in different fields. If you’re just an actor, you have a very limited understanding of what to do. But when you have a business background, a political background, you have an experience that’s almost 360-degrees. It makes you who you are and it helps you in your decision making.”

Talking about work, Deepika Chikhalia, apart from being an actress, is also the producer of her daily soap ‘Dhartiputra Nandini’.
