Deal: Pre-order the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 or buy the Galaxy S24 Ultra or S24+

Officially, the new Samsung foldables will be released on July 24 (Wednesday), although pre-orders may start shipping a few days earlier. This is more or less the last call to get pre-order benefits for the two new Galaxy Z phones.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 costs $1,800 for the 512GB model (thanks to the free storage upgrade). Samsung offers up to $1,200 in trade-in credit — the Z Fold5 costs $1,200, the Z Fold4 costs $1,000, and the Z Fold3 costs $900. If you’re switching from an older Ultra, the S24 Ultra costs $900, while the S23 Ultra costs $800.

If you’re not doing a trade-in, Amazon also sells the Galaxy Z Fold6 for $1,800 for the 512GB model, but bundles it with a $300 Amazon gift card.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 (512GB) is down to $1,000 thanks to a $100 instant credit and free storage upgrade. The trade-in offer is capped at $650 — you can get it for the S24 Ultra, Z Flip5, or Z Fold5. The older Z Flip4 is available for $550 and the Z Flip3 for $450.

The Galaxy Z Flip6 (512GB) costs $1,100 on Amazon, but it comes with a $200 Amazon gift card, so the effective price could be lower than what Samsung is offering if you’re not trading in an old phone.

If you’re not a fan of foldable phones, you can buy the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra (12/512GB) for the same price as the Flip – $1,100. You get better cameras with the Ultra and the S Pen. Better battery life and faster charging too. The downside is that the S24 Ultra is a pretty big device.

You can also get the Galaxy S24+. The cameras are comparable to the Z Flip6 and Z Fold6, while it is a cheaper phone. The battery is better too.

We’re in the mood for some gaming, so let’s see what all it has to offer. The Witcher One XR glasses are a compact way to bring a virtual 120” display with you. They feature a 1080p @ 60fps display on each eye and have myopia adjustment. There’s also an electrochromic film that can darken the glasses to reduce distractions.

You can plug these into a compatible phone with a USB-C cable – the Galaxy Z Fold6 and two S24 models will bring their own DeX interface (note: the Z Flip6 doesn’t offer video out). These also work with the iPhone 15, as well as devices like the Steam Deck and ROG Ally. Note that this offer requires a Prime subscription.

These glasses are great for traveling, but for home you’d be better off with something like the 34” Samsung Odyssey G85SB monitor. This curved 3,440 x 1,440px QD-OLED display runs at 175Hz (0.03ms response time) and supports AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The monitor has a Gaming Hub, which can handle game streaming (Xbox, Nvidia, etc.) without a PC/console. It’s also a smart TV, so all the usual Tizen features are available too.

If you just want to use your existing TV, but it doesn’t support cloud gaming, the $30 Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K can give you access to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate streaming. Note that you’ll need a compatible controller.

The Xbox controller would be fine (and even for gaming on Witcher glasses). But check out the Asus ROG Raikiri Pro, it’s like a Swiss army knife. It supports 3 modes – wired over USB-C, wireless over Bluetooth and wireless over 2.4GHz RF. It has a built-in OLED display that lets you change profiles – you can remap and customize buttons. Also, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack along with the ESS DAC, so you can plug in wired headphones.
