Deal: Galaxy S24 FE and S24 Ultra, new wearables

Amazon’s Prime Day deals lasted for two days earlier this week, but that’s all behind us now. However, that doesn’t mean there aren’t good deals. In fact, we saw some new offers that weren’t available on Prime Day.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is still too new to be discounted outright, but both the 128GB and 256GB versions are available with a free $100 Amazon gift card. You can use it to buy a few accessories – a case, a new smartwatch, etc – or to buy something completely unrelated.

The price of the 256GB unit of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra dropped by more than $1,000 during Prime Day. There is no current offer He Nice but still good enough to mention. The 512GB variant in particular is discounted by over $400.

There was no discount on the S24+, but there was a slight discount on the smaller Galaxy S24.

You can use that $100 Galaxy S24 FE gift card to get a new watch – that makes the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE $180, or just $80 after applying the card. Note that this is for the Bluetooth version, Samsung has also recently added an LTE version (but both are only 40mm).

If you want a larger, more capable watch, the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 brings a faster, more efficient 3nm Exynos W1000 chipset, a larger display (1.5″ vs. 1.2″) because it’s a 44mm model, and longer battery life. Both watches have an ECG, but only the Watch7 has a blood pressure monitor.

For an adventure watch, there’s the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra. It can dive deeper (it’s certified to 100 meters) and has an even bigger battery. The Ultra is available in only one configuration – 47mm with LTE.

Samsung has just announced the A16 5G, but the older Samsung Galaxy A15 5G is still around and it’s cheaper too. Not that we know the price of the A16 yet, but looking at the price in the EU, it will be $250. The A15 5G will get 4 OS updates and 5 years of security patches, so this device priced under $200 can last you a long time. The Dimensity 6100+ is weaker than the newer chipset inside the A16, but it’s no speed demon either.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 Lite (2024) has proven to be a successful design, this being its second re-release. And there is currently a discount of 40% on it. Note that both the 64GB and 128GB versions only have 4GB of RAM, so you might be better off spending the extra $50 on a microSD card rather than just getting 64GB more internal storage.

The Ora Ring 4 was announced earlier this month with a titanium exterior and epoxy interior. The sensor suite has been significantly reduced since Gen 3 (from 1.3 mm to 0.3 mm) and accuracy has been significantly improved (the blood oxygen sensor is 120% better). Note that you need a $6/month or $70/year subscription.

Alternatively, you can get the Samsung Galaxy Ring, which costs a little more, but doesn’t require a subscription. We found it to be comfortable and have a longer battery life than what you get from the Galaxy Watch. However, you don’t get any notifications and other smart features from the watches. The good news is that the Galaxy Watch and the Ring are designed to live together – for example, you can wear the Watch during the day and the Ring at night.

Here are some more wearables – Sony recently unveiled new TWS buds in the LinkBuds series. The LinkBuds Open have an open design, which makes them more comfortable to wear all day long and they don’t block ambient sound. The LinkBuds Fit have a more traditional design with a focus on comfort, audio quality, and noise cancellation. It also has a Bluetooth speaker, which can seamlessly resume playback when you get home and put the buds away.
