Amazon’s latest Prime Day sale came and went this week, but that’s not the end of the promotion. Today we want to focus on something that didn’t have much of an impact on Prime Day offers – Apple computers and tablets.
We’ll start with tablets because they’re more affordable. The 2022 vanilla Apple iPad features a 10.9” IPS LCD (just a 60Hz refresh rate) and an A14 chipset. It charges using USB-C, so you can use the same cable as current iPhones. A stylus is also supported (first generation Pencil).

The new Air models are more capable, using the same Apple M2 chip as the previous Pro. The iPad Air 11 also has almost the same size IPS LCD and is also stuck at 60Hz. The Airs have USB-C with video out and Stage Manager support for multitasking – it’s not as good as macOS, but it’s still quite useful.

There is also a larger 13” iPad Air in this generation. Apart from the larger battery (36.59Wh vs 28.93Wh), it’s basically the same tablet.

The same Apple M2 power is also available in MacBook Air with 13.6” laptops from 2022. It costs more, but as we mentioned above, macOS is better at multitasking and can run iOS and iPadOS apps. Plus, you get the keyboard, which is a separate purchase with the iPad.

For £100 more, you can upgrade to the M3 Power with the 2024 MacBook Air, also a 13.6” laptop. These new models support two external displays (with the lid closed), whereas the M2 model can actually only handle one (though there are ways around this limitation).

That’s all for Apple offers, we’ll wrap up with some Amazon tablet deals. The Amazon Fire Max 11″ tablet is 48% off right now (with ads) and with its large IPS LCD and stereo speakers, it’s a great browsing and streaming device. It’s great for video calls and office work, as well as some Can handle even light gaming.

The Amazon Fire HD 10 has a 10.1” LCD and stereo speakers, so it’s another great entertainment option – and it costs less than £100. Like the Max, it has an octa-core CPU (2.0GHz), so even light gaming is on the table.

Finally, the Amazon Fire 7 is cheap up front and ridiculously cheap after the 54% discount – the 16GB model is just £30. You can pay £10 extra to get 32GB of internal storage, but we’d prefer to spend that money on a microSD card. A 128GB Amazon Basics card currently costs £10.63 and for slightly more than that you can get the SanDisk Extreme.
