After delivering the huge Marvel hits Deadpool and Wolverine, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman will reportedly reunite on the Academy Awards stage to host the ceremony.
Deadline has confirmed that festival organizers have contacted the pair, along with other celebrities like Dwayne Johnson, Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler. Additionally, Kevin Hart and Chris Rock were not considered for the role this year, and both Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney declined the offer.
The offers for Jackman and Reynolds came after the actors won over fans with their on-screen chemistry. Meanwhile, the pair previously took the Oscars stage in 2009. According to some sources close to the actors, the Marvel duo are giving mixed signals about whether or not they will be attending the event.
According to Deadline, an insider revealed, “The outreach is genuine, but there are mixed signals about whether the stars are willing to participate.”
He added, “I think there’s also the question of Disney and Marvel’s actual planned Oscar campaign for Deadpool and Wolverine, where I’ve heard Reynolds will be promoted as lead actor and Jackman for supporting.”

The source concluded by saying that a decision will be announced in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, the two recently came together to celebrate his birthday and were joined by Deadpool and Wolverine director Shawn Levy. The filmmaker shared pictures on his Instagram account, where the old friends stood on either side of a flower-filled cake.
In the following photos, Levi also entered the frame. The director also penned a caption which read, “October is the best month for a friend’s birthday. A perfect day to celebrate early autumn with the two best people.”
While Jackman turns 56 on October 12, Ryan Reynolds will celebrate his 48th birthday on October 23.
As far as the latest Marvel release goes, The Proposal actor once again dons the mantle of Deadpool and teams up with Wolverine, played by Jackman, to fight the evil Cassandra Nova in the film.
The Marvel film is available to stream on Disney+.
