De De Pyaar De 2 collected Rs. 5,000 in its opening weekend. Earned Rs 33 crore in India after taking an opening of Rs. After this Rs 8.25 crore. Rs 11.75 crore. 13 crores on Saturday and Sunday. In contrast, the original film, released in 2019, collected Rs. 5,000 in its first weekend. Rs 35.75 crore, including paid previews. 1.20 crore, followed by a similar trend of Rs. Rs 8.15 crore. Rs 12.25 crore. 14.10 crores on first day, second day and third day respectively.
Both the films have registered similar collections so far, which is equivalent to their first weekend. However, De De Pyaar De 2 should have done better considering it was a sequel and the significant inflation in the last 6 years. However, the health of the box office has also changed drastically. What was working in pre-pandemic times is not finding many takers in today’s markets!
Seeing how the sequel performs on weekdays will reveal whether the film can match the lifetime figures of the first part or not. While this won’t make it a clean hit venture, at least it could eliminate the flop verdicts, making it a safe choice in today’s sluggish market, especially for the rom-com genre.
