David Beckham and wife Victoria Beckham have always been devoted to their family. So when their eldest, Brooklyn, claims they tried to control her life and push a brand image, the world is critical. A day after the 26-year-old shared a six-page long note on his Instagram Stories that slammed his parents and showed no signs of reconciling with them, his father David has responded. He called the youth’s words a ‘mistake’, but also supported him by advocating the effects of social media, saying that children are allowed to do that.

Appearing on CNBC’s financial talk show Squawk Box, the former footballer addressed his son Brooklyn Beckham’s comments, alleging that the Beckham family had tried to ruin his relationship with now-wife Nicola Peltz even before their marriage. She responded to the ongoing criticism on social media by saying, “I’ve always talked about social media and the power of social media, for good and for bad. We’ve talked about the bad, what kids can access these days, and how it can be dangerous. But what I’ve personally found, especially with my kids, is use it for the right reasons.”
She highlighted her efforts to spread awareness about children’s issues through UNICEF. Keeping his comments general, without naming Brooklyn or his three other children, Romeo, Cruz and Harper Seven, he said, “I’ve tried to do the same with my kids, to educate them (about social media). They make mistakes. Kids are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn. So, that’s what I try to teach my kids.” He concluded his thoughts on the incident with, “You’ve got to let them make those mistakes sometimes.”
In her note, Brooklyn Beckham accused her mother of canceling the making of her bridal dress at the 11th hour, arguing over seating arrangements at the wedding and feeling ‘humiliated’ over her highly inappropriate dance, which she ‘hijacked’ from the couple.
