Damon Wayans Jr. recently joined the cast of Shrinking, in one of the most interesting roles. The actor plays the role of Derrick in the second season of the above show.
For those who aren’t familiar with the show’s characters, Wayans Jr. is Derek’s close friend, who eventually becomes Derrick #2 to those around him.
Additionally, Wayans’ character, Derrick, is also the boyfriend of Gabi, played by Emmy nominee Jessica Williams. While the two have great chemistry, entertaining the audience with some extreme and unscripted flirty moments, the Major Payne actor recently revealed how the scenes are shot.
The actor recently sat down with HuffPost and talked about a crazy scene where Derrick finds her vibrator in Gabi’s breakup box.
The Last Boy Scout actor said, “It was a moment where (I and Williams) looked into each other’s eyes, like, ‘This is happening.’
He then further stated that the production had cut several moments from the scene, even the scene where the two characters are shown meeting each other for the first time.
Talking about the sequence where he finds a vibrator, Wayans Jr. said that both he and Williams had improvised it but “didn’t get a chance to use it.”
Recalling his time on Happy Endings, Damon Wayans Jr. further said, “I knew (any time) I came (to the set) for Happy Endings I had to have jokes in the holster.”
He further said that he had to do this because other actors like Adam Pally, Casey Wilson, and Elijah Cooper always brought their own jokes to the set.
Shrinking is an Apple TV+ series that follows the life of a grieving therapist, played by Jason Segel, who is known for breaking his patients’ rules and entangling himself in their issues.
The series also stars Krista Miller, Harrison Ford, Ted McGinley and others.
