Vikramaditya Motwane is one of the most honest filmmakers of Bollywood, and he has already been honest about his views on films and the film industry. Recently, he expressed his disappointment over multiplexes that have kept multiple shows of Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 on the same day, ignoring Payal Kapadia’s critically acclaimed film All We Imagine as Light.

Vikramaditya Motwane shared a screenshot of the multiplex schedule of Pushpa 2 with multiple screenings on the same day on his Instagram Stories. On the other hand, All We Imagine as Light has very few or no shows in various multiplexes.

He captioned it, writing, ‘And yet, Payal’s incredible success will mean nothing to us as we throw out her film, don’t let it breathe or find an audience, and end up with a movie in the same multiplex. There will be 36 shows in the day. Congratulations. We deserve it.”

Take a look at her Instagram stories below:

He later shared another screenshot of a news story where an insider shared that multiplexes were asked not to screen other films. He captioned it, “Ah, the plot thickens… Not that we should start feeling sorry for our favorite multiplex series (yes, you know the one). Doing just that The irony of their being strong-armed after several times in the past is fair to the manufacturers.”

He also said that this is a wrong trend as no one should monopolize multiplexes and every big film will take inspiration from it, it will be disastrous for the film industry.

The controversy comes after Payal Kapadia’s All We Imagine as Light earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Director – Motion Picture and Best Motion Picture in a Non-English Language, making the country proud.

Earlier, his film had also won the Grand Prix at the New York Film Critics Circle and the Cannes Film Festival, which was celebrated in the Hindi film industry. The film starring Kani Kushruti, Divya Prabha and Chhaya Kadam has faced challenges in its domestic run, with limited screenings and no OTT platform having acquired its streaming rights yet.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta had given this information in a post on X (formerly Twitter) last month, “And from what I hear, no OTT platform is buying All We Imagine as Light. Reality. This is not a country.” Hopefully I’m proven wrong for the brilliant All We Imagine as Light.”

Meanwhile, Pushpa 2, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil, has become an instant hit at the box office since its release on December 5.
