A 23-year-old Colombian woman has been arrested in connection with a series of targeted killings, including the recent murder of her ex-boyfriend. Karen Julieta Ojeda Rodríguez, known to police by the nickname “La Muñeca”, which translates to “The Doll”, has been arrested for her alleged involvement in several high-profile murders in the municipality of Barrancabermeja, the New York Post reports. Was taken into custody.
According to Spanish-language outlet Libertad Digital, the killings were said to have been carried out at the behest of the Los de la M gang. At the time of her arrest, Rodriguez was looking to expand her career. He led a small cadre of killers who terrorized the area before his arrest.
Magdalena Medio police said her arrest followed the murder of her ex-boyfriend in an ambush on July 23 in the rural area of Piedcuesta, Colombia.
According to police, Rodriguez called her ex-boyfriend, Davey Jesus, and asked him to meet and allegedly resolve a money dispute between them.
When Davy moved forward, he was killed by two men on a bike, allegedly at the behest of Rodriguez. “The Doll” was arrested by the police along with one of her companions, Paula Valentina Joya Rueda (24).
Rueda was also on the police radar and was known by the nickname “Gorda Sicaria”, which translates to “Fat Hitwoman”.
Meanwhile, another accomplice, identified only as “Leopoldo”, was arrested by the police at the same time as “the Doll”. Police officials said they seized a revolver and a 9-millimeter caliber pistol at the time of the arrest.
At present, the police are investigating whether any of these weapons were used in the recent murders.
Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrera of the Magdalena Medio police said that with the arrests of ‘La Muñeca’ and ‘Leopoldo’, “an atmosphere of peace has returned to the area.”
“These arrests mark progress in dismantling the criminal structure responsible for recent killings,” Herrara said.
According to the World Population Review, a murder is recorded every three days in Bucaramanga, Colombia, which has a total population of more than 1.3 million people.
