British rock band, Coldplay, is finally coming to India for a concert in 2025. The group first visited India and performed at the Global Citizen Festival in Mumbai in 2016. This time they are returning for their first concert in Mumbai as part of their Music of Spheres Tour, which is running from 2022. As part of this tour, Coldplay will perform at various locations across the world, including Asia, Latin America, Europe, North America, and Australia.

According to an announcement released by entertainment platform BookMyShow Live, Coldplay will perform at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on January 18 and 19, 2025. A mystery guest will be announced in the coming weeks. Tickets will go on sale on September 22 at 12 noon IST.

“Coldplay have also confirmed that they will be making a limited number of Infinity Tickets available for the show on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 12pm (IST),” a statement said. Infinity tickets are released for every Coldplay show to make the Music of the Spheres World Tour accessible to fans at an affordable price. These cost around €20 (Rs 2000) per ticket and must be purchased in pairs. They are limited to a maximum of two tickets per buyer (which will be located next to each other). The location will be revealed when fans pick up their tickets in person at the box office on the day of the show and they can range from the entire venue to upper tiers, side view seats and everywhere in between.

Meanwhile, their 2016 performance in India lasted less than 10 minutes, with the group’s lead singer Chris Martin, along with AR Rahman, addressing the crowd in Hindi and other languages.

For those who don’t know, in 2021, Coldplay released Music of the Spheres, an album heavily influenced by cosmic themes. They also collaborated with artists like BTS for the single, My Universe, which became a global hit.

Their music is known for its blend of soft and melodic rock, with lyrics that reflect themes of love, life, and pain. Their early albums, including A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) and X&Y (2005), earned them a reputation as a pioneering alternative rock band, before they achieved greater success with albums such as Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), which won them several Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year for Viva la Vida.

Coldplay was formed in 1996 by Chris Martin, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion. They have sold over 100 million records worldwide and remain one of the most influential and commercially successful bands of the 21st century.
