‘Cold winds are blowing’: Glen Powell makes a surprise cameo in the Today Show’s weather report

With Twisters hitting theaters, star Glen Powell couldn’t resist getting into character behind the scenes and offering a fun weather report for fans. Appearing on the Today show in New York City to promote his new disaster movie, the Anyone But You star helped host Dylan Dreyer tell the weather forecast in his own style.

“So I know you became a pilot for Top Gun – did you become a meteorologist for twisters?” Dreyer asked on camera, to which Powell replied, “I mean, we’ll see. I guess you’re going to test my knowledge here.” After seeing a few raindrops, the star explained, “Yeah, yeah, so I think it’s going to rain.” Dreyer didn’t miss the chance to say this sentence, and asked Powell if he expected any twisters to come.

This is a clear reference to the new film, which serves as a standalone sequel to the original 1996 film of the same name. It follows the antics of Daisy Edgar-Jones’ Kate, who gets caught up in the world of storm chasing. Powell’s Tyler Owens is also believed to be a storm chaser on social media, and when the two meet, a confrontation is inevitable. But as events unfold, the two join hands with several other competing teams to fight a devastating tornado.

Twisters will be in cinemas soon

“If that’s the case, I know what to do, guys. I made a whole movie about this!” Powell delivered the promotional message. The host then gave a brief explanation of the weather radar to aid the newbie big-screen star. “It looks like nothing dramatic is happening in Arkansas. It looks like we’re going to get some warm weather here in New York,” he said, then was startled by a cool breeze coming through.

“Look at you—see, you learned a thing or two,” Dreyer said in astonishment.

One of the most anticipated films of the year, Twister stars former Normal People star Edgar-Jones opposite Powell, as well as a stellar cast. Directed by Lee Isaac Chung and written by Mark L. Smith, the film stars Kiernan Shipka, Anthony Ramos, Maura Tierney and David Corenswet.
