Cloudflare goes down as many apps go offline, users report widespread outages
Cloudflare is down again for the second time in a month. According to the DownDetector website, power outages increased after 2 pm today. This is why you won’t be able to log in to apps like Groww and Zerodha.

Just weeks after the Internet service provider experienced a major outage that lasted for hours, the world experienced another Cloudflare outage. This is Cloudflare’s second major disruption in a month, following a similar incident in November that briefly shut down services like Spotify, ChatGPT and even Donald Trump’s Truth Social. On Friday, the outage disrupted access to several popular platforms including Canva, Zerodha and Groww, leading to a flood of complaints on X from frustrated users. However, by the time this article was written, the company had restored its services within about an hour.
It is interesting to note that during the recent spike, even DownDetector, the website that tracks the outage, was down. But, as soon as it came back, it recorded that the outage occurred at around 2 pm IST today, and over 2,308 users had reported the outage.

But, there is nothing more fun than tracking X users and meme trails on the platform. One user pointed out the irony, saying, “Wanted to check if Cloudflare was down again, went to downdetector… (but) apparently downdetectors run on Cloudflare too.”

On the same note, another user shared the frustration captured in a meme, “When you want to report that Cloudflare is down, but DownDetector also uses Cloudflare.
But, the good news is that the affected apps are now back online. Groww app has shared a notification with users. “Due to the Cloudflare global outage, we were experiencing technical issues. The app is now working properly,” it said.

List of affected apps
The disruption, which has affected multiple continents, has caused slowdowns, login failures and complete blackouts on some of the web’s most visited platforms.
Social networks were among the first to stumble, with X (formerly Twitter), LinkedIn and Discord struggling to load feeds or connect users to servers. In the productivity and AI realm, the closures of Canva and Notion halted creative workflows, while tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity left users staring at error screens instead of answers.
Even the world of entertainment was not spared, as Spotify and Letterboxd started throwing widespread access errors. The finance and tech sectors were also hit, with Coinbase, Groww and even SpaceX’s operational sites reporting declines. Meanwhile, in e-commerce, retailers relying on Shopify found that both their storefronts and admin dashboards were intermittently inaccessible, which was an unwelcome blow during the peak online shopping season.
Cloudflare’s massive network powers a significant portion of the Internet, so outages like this serve as a stark reminder. This tells us that Cloudflare is the core foundation of every app we use on a daily basis.
