November 29 was celebrated as Cinema Lovers’ Day, and tickets in all standard formats were available at a flat rate of Rs 99 in most theatres. On this occasion, see how the films performed at the box office.
This weekend’s new release Moana 2 took a good start at the Indian box office. It grossed around Rs 2 crore on the first day in India, which is an encouraging start for an animation film so far. The Hollywood blockbuster is performing very well at the US box office and is expected to attract a section of the audience in India as well.
Sabarmati Report recorded a good growth of 166% at the box office on its third Friday (15th day). Vikrant Massey’s film grossed Rs 2 crore, taking its total in India to Rs 23.26 crore. There is still a week left for Pushpa 2 to survive in theaters and attract some audiences. The film is expected to end its run in theaters with a collection of less than Rs 30 crore in India.
Kartik Aryan starrer, Diwali 2024 release Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 saw a good growth in its collections. It recorded a growth of 122% compared to the previous day and grossed Rs 2 crore on its 29th day of release. The film has comfortably crossed the Rs 240 crore mark at the Indian box office and is now expected to earn around Rs 243 crore to Rs 245 crore in India.
Another Diwali release, Singham Again, also struggled on Cinema Lovers’ Day and could only collect Rs 1.3 crore nett. However, this is a significant jump compared to its previous day but not enough to change its fortunes. Ajay Devgan-Rohit Shetty’s film is heading towards ending with a semi-hit and earning Rs 240 crore in India.
For those unaware, this was the fourth edition of Cinema Lovers’ Day this year. Although better performance at the box office was expected, sadly due to new major releases, audiences avoided taking advantage of the discounted ticket fares. It will be interesting to see how next week’s big film Pushpa 2 performs at the box office.
