Choreographer Jani Master facing probe by Telugu film body in sexual harassment case
Telugu choreographer Jani Master has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman during an outdoor shoot and at his home in Hyderabad. The TFCC has now begun investigating the case. Check out its official statement.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce (TFCC) on Tuesday released an official statement in the sexual abuse case against Telugu choreographer Jani Master. On Monday, September 16, it was reported that Jani allegedly sexually abused a junior choreographer “multiple times”. Now, in its statement, the TFCC has mentioned that a sexual abuse redressal panel is considering the woman’s complaint and an investigation has been initiated.
“The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce has received a complaint of sexual harassment from a choreographer, who is a member of the Telugu Film and TV Dancers and Dance Directors Association, and it has been forwarded to the Sexual Harassment Redressal Panel of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce,” the statement said.
The board said that they are aware of the FIR lodged by the victim in this case and they will follow the relevant procedure at their level. The statement further said, “The internal complaint committee has met and investigation is underway as per the guidelines of POSH Act 2013. We are aware that the victim party has made a complaint to the police department for which an FIR has been lodged.”
The TFCC also requested the media to protect the identity of the complainant by reporting carefully on the case.
Cyberabad police have registered an FIR against choreographer Sheikh Jani Basha for sexually assaulting a woman during an outdoor shoot. In her complaint to the police, the woman has alleged that he assaulted her several times during the shoot in various cities including Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderabad. She said that Jani also abused her several times at his home in Narsingi, Hyderabad.
Police have registered a case against the choreographer under sections 376 (rape), sections (2) and (n), criminal intimidation (506) and voluntarily causing hurt (323) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Jani is known for working with many popular stars from Bollywood and South Indian film industry. He has worked in films like Stree 2, Pushpa, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Devraa, Warisu and Khel Khel Mein. He is also associated with Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and was seen working for the Jana Sena Party during the assembly elections.
